Media company David Bragi and Dolores Nurss Partnership is in the early stages of producing a feature-length animated film based on the late composer Gustav Holst’s popular orchestral suite The Planets. Inspired by early 20th century ideas about astrology and mythic symbols of the solar system, Holst’s visionary masterpiece is a perennial favorite among classical music fans with an interest in mysticism and fantasy.
Utilizing cost-effective 3D animation techniques, the movie will combine imaginative visual effects and a dramatic Odyssey-like storyline to create a ritual journey through life, from the fire and anger of youth to the wisdom of old age. It features a lively 2014 arrangement and recording of the The Planets by David C. Hëvvit, an experienced soundtrack artist for television and film.
The producers are currently organizing a first-round crowdfunding campaign to finance the early stages of production and related expenses. Interested parties can email a message to bragi@grailmedia.com.
