Dear Coreopsis eds,
The Buffalo River is one of the ONLY FREE FLOWING UNDAMMED Rivers in the Lower 48 states! In the 1970’s the Ozark Society worked hard to keep it from being dammed and it became our Nation’s FIRST HISTORIC River. Now Cargile has ‘snuck’ in a 6,000 confined Hog Factory on its watershed with proper environmental studies. It is a controversial issue back in these hills as farmers don’t want to be told what they can and cannot do with their land. The land around the Buffalo River is Karst Terrain, which means it’s like SWISS CHEESE and the hog waste spread on the fields WILL hurt the river.
Anyhow…we have been on the team of scientists and activists bringing awareness to this issue…this CD is an attempt to COME IN THE BACK DOOR. All the songs on this CD are about the HISTORY, PEOPLE and PLACES on this beautiful river….(no mention of the CAFO). We were COMMUNITY FUNDED to do up to 30 FREE Concerts around the watershed AND give away up to 100 CD’s for FREE at each show. We want our music to be a bridge to opening up healthy conversation. At some of the concerts we will have tabling and info about HOW to be a good steward of the river.
Because the BUFFALO is a NATIONAL PARK and the FIRST NATIONAL RIVER this story can be told coast to coast.
Thanks We are at your disposal and honored to be part of Coreopsis! YOUR FAN too! Donna and Kelly
